After the really difficult year, understandably for so many, everyone rallied together to make the Ashington 2021 festival bigger and better following last year’s cancellation. The relaxed, family orientated, vibe of years gone by was reinstated and despite a heavy downpour as the festival started it was clear from the beginning that this was going to be a good day for all and that the organisers had made the right decision to forge ahead.
The weather was typically unpredictable for August with a mix of sunshine and showers. Fortunately the forecast thunderstorms managed to bypass Ashington and the sun came out during the afternoon.
We had an amazing 150 bottles of all shapes and sizes, on the stall, from litres of spirits to a bottle of HP sauce! In addition volunteer Val beautifully decorated, and filled with sweets, 64 Jolly Jam Jars for the children’s tombola. Grateful thanks to our volunteers, riders, friends and supporters for donating such a wonderful array of bottles.
A heartfelt thank you to all the volunteers, and their partners, who helped on the stall throughout the day. Fundraising events don’t just happen, they take weeks of planning and hard work but with our noble team of helpers, and everyone who came to support us and spend their money, we managed to raise (drum roll please)………… £621!
Our thanks also go to the festival organisers for allowing charities to take part without payment.
The blue sky did really swing our way, it was good to be back. The atmosphere was great with a good turnout of people reconnecting again and enjoying a great family day out.
