Members of LFRDA were thrilled to receive complimentary tickets for the Al Shira’aa Hickstead Derby Meeting and our grateful thanks to Edward Bunn, Executive Director of Hickstead. It was a picture perfect weekend with sunshine every day and there was certainly plenty to see and plenty of talent.

A packed schedule showcased a variety of equestrian disciplines and the crowds were treated to some wonderful equestrian action in addition to being able to shop until they dropped in the retail village. The Al Shira’aa Derby saw a record broken in the history of the class when William Funnell won – the first rider to win it 5 times. Well done to all the winners, competitors, horses and ponies, their support teams and the Hickstead staff for making it such a memorable event.
