Mental Health Awareness Week
In the United Kingdom, mental health issues represent the single largest cause of disability. One in four adults suffers from at least one mental health illness in any year (Statista, 2024)

This #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek the theme is movement and moving more for your mental health. Finding different therapeutic ways to support yourself or loved ones experiencing poor mental health, can help in many ways. Here at RDA, our activities and horses can bring a multitude of benefits for our participants and volunteers suffering with poor mental health.
For our riders and drivers…
“Anybody experiencing a difference, a horse doesn’t see that you’re different. A horse accepts you as you are. And a horse teaches you things. From the minute they get on, children learn cooperation and empathy – with other people, with the pony.”
and for our volunteers and coaches…
“The horses calmed me and brought things into perspective, and I left feeling uplifted. I can see that RDA could help people in a similar situation to the one I was in. RDA also leaves me feeling more energetic and gives me a routine. Going to the stables in the morning is like my meditation, my therapy.“
