Christmas Festivities Rein
What a brilliant way to end our best ever year! We’re still on a high from our sessions this week. Riders completed an obstacle course and showed off their skills, we’re not sure who was more competitive, the volunteers or the riders! Many thanks to the volunteers for their never ending purple spirit. The horses, looking very festive, did us proud. They were nothing short of outstanding, behaving beautifully throughout, and putting in some sparkling … Continue reading →

What a contrast this week, after last week’s snow, as the late autumn weather decided to give us a bonus gift of wall to wall sunshine making it feel totally tropical. This left some of us feeling a little overdressed! Well done to all our riders and grateful thanks to our volunteers. A special shout out to the horses and ponies, who know their jobs inside out and have the unique ability to know what … Continue reading →
Terrific tombola total
We are pleased to announce our tombola at the Charities Fair was a roaring success and we raised a brilliant £406!! Massive thanks to our wonderful team who helped before, during and after and brought everything together in such a fantastic way. Thank you to everyone who visited our stall, some returning several times. In this week of celebrating Trustees we had more cause for celebration as we wished a very Happy Birthday to our Trustee, Treasurer, Coach and long time volunteer Sarah-Jane. Although all our sessions are special some are even more so. Our coaches are the heart and soul of the group, always going that extra mile and thank you SJ for all that you do for us and we know that’s a lot! We hope you … Continue reading →
Trustees’ Week 2025
Happy Trustees’ Week! November 3 -7 is Trustees’ week and we’re celebrating the brilliant team behind LFRDA. We know trustees should be valued all year round but isn’t it great that we have a dedicated week that is a specific golden opportunity to shine a light on them that would be harder to do with a continued year-round celebration, we might get through a lot of cake, that traditional fuel that RDA runs on! It’s a … Continue reading →
Sprinkling magic at sessions
Well, that’s a wrap for this first half of the riding term and what an autumn we’ve had! This week we took the opportunity to celebrate our successes and all that has been achieved in and out of the saddle. It was definitely party central with a celebratory atmosphere all fuelled by a large quantity of cakes! A massive thanks to the incredible volunteers for not only giving their all at the weekly sessions but … Continue reading →
Magic moments & mellow moves
Autumn at the stables is a favourite time of year. It’s a privilege to be based in the idyllic setting at Chestnuts, which makes for a truly restorative place to ride. We love to immerse ourselves in our surroundings that leave us in awe as the rich October colours come through making a stunning spectacle on the Downs. This week the riders spotted some buzzards in the sky doing a display flight, everyone thought … Continue reading →
Let’s talk tombolas!
Hello to our lovely followers. Here at LFRDA HQ we are putting together a fabulous festive tombola with a colour theme of purple, silver and gold. But, we have a very big ask, do you have any goodies that you would be willing to donate? Every donation makes our stall look enticing, eye-catching and exciting helping us spread festive cheer at the fair whilst raising funds for us. Items need to be new and … Continue reading →
LFRDA for together days
The saddest thing about having a holiday is not seeing our equine friends as much, which means we were excited to be reunited and bring the herd (ponies and people) together. Last term we had so many dry sessions it was only a matter of time before having some wet ones but, after the downpours, our beautiful stables are looking much greener, it was needed! This week, our cherished horses and ponies ensured they looked … Continue reading →
Back to doing what we love!
Despite the soggy start to September we hope everyone has been enjoying the summer break. The horses have had a well earned holiday, behaving themselves, looking beautifully relaxed, unwinding and making the most of the tranquillity of their peaceful surroundings. For us it’s time to get out of our airy sandals and back into our boots, back to our routines and back to doing what we love. Hands up, who’s excited for a … Continue reading →
